Statistics: Russia’s CPI at 0.1% in Apr 28–Tue, 8% from Jan 1
MOSCOW, May 7 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation index (CPI) remained flat at 0.1% between April 28 and Tuesday and reached 8% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said Thursday.
In 2014, prices grew by 0.5% in the same period, while since January 1, 2014, prices increased 4.2% as of May 5, 2014.
Margarine prices increased 0.5%, while lamb meat, tea, cookies and chocolate sweets prices rose 0.3–0.4%. Eggs became 2.4% cheaper, while poultry, frozen fish, cheese, sugar, rice, millet and buckwheat prices fell 0.3-0.6%.
Fruit and vegetables became 0.1% cheaper on average, with prices for cucumbers and tomatoes falling 3.7% and 3.1%, respectively. But onion, carrot and white cabbage prices increased 2.6-3.8%.
Gasoline and diesel fuel prices remained flat.
In 2014, consumer prices in Russia grew 11.4%.
The Economic Development Ministry’s official forecast for 2015 inflation is 12.2%, while the central bank projects inflation at 12–14%.
